Chapter 54-6 SIGNING PROVISIONS
An athlete agent shall notify the Commission by registered mail, return receipt requested of their intention to sign an athlete to an agent contract prior to the termination of the athlete's eligibility to participate in intercollegiate sports contests at an institution of higher education. Such notice shall specify the athlete's name, institution and sport(s) in which the athlete competes. Except as provided in Rule 54-6-.03 below, the notice shall be confidential and shall not be a public record.
An athlete agent shall notify in writing the appropriate athletic director of having signed an athlete before the contracting athlete practices or participates in any intercollegiate event or within 72 hours after entering into the contract, whichever comes first.
An agent may not sign an athlete to an agent contract until the 31st day after the Commission received the notice of Intent to Sign.
Prior to signing an athlete to an agent contract, an agent shall not compensate that athlete or take any other action which may jeopardize that athlete's eligibility to participate in intercollegiate sports contests at an institution of higher education.
An agent who fails to comply with the provisions of this Chapter shall be subject to the sanctions set out in Chapter 54-7.
